The Story Behind the
"Big Dreams Bag"
I loved the simple functionality of a classic canvas tote - easy to throw everything into, fits a laptop and a water bottle, and gets you through the day. But I wanted something that felt much more special: cute, soft, elevated, and whimsical.
Most totes sag or show the awkward outlines of whatever you put inside or don’t look very special. To solve that, I designed the Dream Big Bag with a hidden, sturdy inner lining (approx. 14″×18″) that holds the weight and shape of it’s contents. Over top floats a much larger, gathered exterior shell made from airy, sculptural fabrics like silk taffeta, moiré, and dupioni. The result? No matter how much you pack, the outside always maintains its dreamy, voluminous shape.

How do I make a pretty tote bag?
I am very selective when it comes to the materials I choose to work with, both in regards to application, but as well as where they come from.
When designing a product, the function plays a huge role in what kind of material makes the cut. In this case, I wanted to check the following boxes:
Big enough to hold my essentials
Low maintenance - both with fabric care, but also use
Whatever the opposite of uptight is
Lux - tote bags are often so generic
Work bag function but playful in form
Pretty - lol
Soft, Airy, Voluminous
Durable on the inside
Low waste design
Minimal materials
Consciously sourced
Easy to travel with
Reconciling all of these wants and needs is the tricky part - they don’t call it Slow Fashion for nothing!
